You Said:

I am not debating about whether slavery is wrong, which I believe is so, but I am debating that the church should be concerned with a persons soul, not necessarily their body.

For the sake of this thread, I agree that Wright’s words were taken out of context for a sensational telecast by ABC, an apparent supporter of Hillary’s candidacy.  And the link you furnished proves it.

For some trivia, are you aware that it was a Black, and former slave himself by the name of Anthony Johnson, who was responsible for the perpetual institution of slavery in this country?  Check out this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Casor

The case of Johnson v.s. Parker is indicative of the early slave trade with Africa. The African slaves were still considered to be a human beings who could have rights under law in the “known world”. This period did not last very long and gave way to the soulless mindless animal phase used to reinforce and justify the horrendous conditions to come in the 1700’s .

What is truly scary is Rev. Jeremiah Wright in a very clear manor explicitly stated the changes that the United States Of America
under went on the path from “SLAVERY TO THE PRESENT” and Rev. Jeremiah Wright repeatedly stated these changes were positive changes and that governments can change while God’s word is the invariant. Tell the Whole Story FOX! demonstrates how the laws of “man” are aligning themselves with God’s word over time. Yet the major media reporters missed these explicit statements indicating lack of English fluency or an intent to malign the character of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Trinity United .

This vial and outrageous assault on Trinity United and Rev. Jeremiah Wright by Fox News can only be considered in the context of Fox News’s latest attempt to rewrite the history of President Clinton’s Administration’s efforts to deal with Usamah Bin Ladin . Now Fox News is complicit in the attempted smearing of Trinity United and Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Sen. Barack Obama .

I am beginning to see a pattern here looks like Fox News is the propaganda organ of the RNC (Republican National Committee) / National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) hate machine.

Lets Compare Rev. Wright To Rev. Falwell and Rev. Robertson

McCain did not spend over 20 years going to Robertson’s or Falwell’s Church! Get real, but when you called me a bigot you lost any creditability if you ever had any.

Words of wisdom from the spiritual advisors of the Republican Party

It may be a good idea to check out Sen. John McCain on the founder of this new age of Christian fundamentalism or so Jerry Falwell has lead us to believe. Question is Sen. John McCain in agreement with the teachings of Jerry Falwell ???

Everybody who is more than 15 years old should be aware that the Christian coalition and before that the Moral Majority have been the spiritual guide for Newt Gingrich George Walker Bush and Ronald Reagan along with VP. Dick Cheney
any body who was somebody in the RNC( Republican National Committee ) /Cato/Heritage /National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) bowed to Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as they have been the leaders of the Republican’s born again Christian SADISTIC NE-CON EVANGELICAL ACTIVIST base. Here is some wisdom from Jerry Falwell

From Positive Atheism’s Big Scary List of Jerry Falwell Quotations

http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/quotes/foulwell.htm

If you’re not a born-again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being._– Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

This is probably as bad a day as the court has had on social issues since “Roe v Wade.”_– Rev Jerry Falwell, reacting to the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Texas sodomy case, “Lawrence v. Texas,” wherein the high court upheld an individual’s (or a couple’s) right to privacy; “It is a promise of the Constitution that there is a realm of personal liberty which the government may not enter,” said Justice Anthony M Kennedy, for the majority in an opinion “as broad in its constitutional vision as any ever issued by the court,” wrote Charles Lane for The Washington Post; in his dissent, Justice Antonin Scalia, an extremist Evangelical Christian, complained that the justices voting to uphold the right to privacy were creating a new constitutional right, that they were not upholding the Constitution, quoted from “Planned Parenthood Federal Action Report” (July, 2003)

I had a student ask me, “Could the savior you believe in save Osama bin Laden?” Of course, we know the blood of Jesus Christ can save him, and then he must be executed._– Rev Jerry Falwell, cited in Cary McMullen, “Falwell: Now Is the Time for Gospel,” in the Lakeland (Florida) Ledger (November 12, 2001), quoted from Randy Cassingham, This is True (18 November 2001). Falwell added: “We visit prisoners on death row, and some of them are saved, but we believe their sentences should be carried out because they have a debt to society.”

God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve._– Rev Jerry Falwell, blaming civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, to which Rev Pat Robertson agreed, quoted from John F Harris, “God Gave US ‘What We Deserve,’ Falwell Says,” The Washington Post (September 14, 2001)

The ACLU’s got to take a lot of blame for this._– Rev Jerry Falwell, blaming civil libertarians for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, to which Rev Pat Robertson again agreed, quoted from AANEWS #958 by American Atheists (September 14, 2001)

And, I know that I’ll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say, “You helped this happen.”_– Rev Jerry Falwell, blaming civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, quoted from John F Harris, “God Gave US ‘What We Deserve,’ Falwell Says,” The Washington Post (September 14, 2001)

I sincerely believe that the collective efforts of many secularists during the past generation, resulting in the expulsion from our schools and from the public square, has left us vulnerable._– Rev Jerry Falwell, after the 700 Club broadcast wherein he had blamed civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, speaking to The New York Times, quoted from Dick Meyer, “Holy Smoke,” CBS News (September 15, 2001)

I put all the blame legally and morally on the actions of the terrorist, [but America’s] secular and anti-Christian environment left us open to our Lord’s [decision] not to protect. When a nation deserts God and expels God from the culture … the result is not good._– Rev Jerry Falwell, backpedaling amidst criticism of his statement blaming civil libertarians, feminists, homosexuals, and abortion rights supporters for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, quoted from John F Harris, “God Gave US ‘What We Deserve,’ Falwell Says,” The Washington Post (September 14, 2001)

Pat, did you notice yesterday the ACLU, and all the Christ-haters, People For the American Way, NOW, etc. were totally disregarded by the Democrats and the Republicans in both houses of Congress as they went out on the steps and called out on to God in prayer and sang “God Bless America” and said “let the ACLU be hanged”? In other words, when the nation is on its knees, the only normal and natural and spiritual thing to do is what we ought to be doing all the time — calling upon God._– Rev Jerry Falwell, justifying the breech of Constitutional Separation of Religion from Government while blaming civil libertarians for the terrorist attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, to which Rev Pat Robertson again agreed, quoted from AANEWS #958 by American Atheists (September 14, 2001)

I hope I live to see the day when, as in the early days of our country, we won’t have any public schools. The churches will have taken them over again and Christians will be running them. What a happy day that will be!_– Rev Jerry Falwell, America Can Be Saved, 1979 pp. 52-53, from Albert J Menendez and Edd Doerr, The Great Quotations on Religious Freedom

AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals._– Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

The idea that religion and politics don’t mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country._– Rev Jerry Falwell, Sermon, July 4, 1976

Good Christians, like slaves and soldiers, ask no questions._– Rev Jerry Falwell, quoted Freethought Today, December, 1999, cited by Anthony T. Podestra of People for the American Way in, Dietz and Holden, Satiricon, p 44; quoted from Steve Benson “Latter-Day Saint To Latter-Day Ain’t”; commemorating the “Tell It Like It Is” Freethought In Media Award, presented on November 5, 1999, by the Freedom From Religion Foundation; excerpted by PAM

If we are going to save America and evangelize the world, we cannot accommodate secular philosophies that are diametrically opposed to Christian truth … We need to pull out all the stops to recruit and train 25 million Americans to become informed pro-moral activists whose voices can be heard in the halls of Congress._ I am convinced that America can be turned around if we will all get serious about the Master’s business. It may be late, but it is never too late to do what is right. We need an old-fashioned, God-honoring, Christ-exalting revival to turn American back to God. America can be saved!_– Jerry Falwell, “Moral Majority Report” for September, 1984

It appears that America’s anti-Biblical feminist movement is at last dying, thank God, and is possibly being replaced by a Christ-centered men’s movement which may become the foundation for a desperately needed national spiritual awakening._– Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

There is no separation of church and state. Modern US Supreme Courts have raped the Constitution and raped the Christian faith and raped the churches by misinterpreting what the Founders had in mind in the First Amendment to the Constitution._– Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

The Bible is the inerrant … word of the living God. It is absolutely infallible, without error in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as well as in areas such as geography, science, history, etc._– Jerry Falwell, Finding Inner Peace and Strength

But these things speak evil of those things, verse 10 [reading from Jude] which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Look at the Metropolitan Community Church today, the gay church, almost accepted into the World Council of Churches. Almost, the vote was against them. But they will try again and again until they get in, and the tragedy is that they would get one vote. Because they are spoken of here in Jude as being brute beasts, that is going to the baser lust of the flesh to live immorally, and so Jude describes this as apostasy. But thank God this vile and satanic system will one day be utterly annihilated and there’ll be a celebration in heaven._– Rev Jerry Falwell, “Old Time Gospel Hour” broadcast, March 11, 1984, quoted by Rev Jerry Sloan, “Is Jerry Falwell a liar?” Freedom Writer, September, 1994

The Jews are returning to their land of unbelief. They are spiritually blind and desperately in need of their Messiah and Savior._– Jerry Falwell, Listen, America!

Grown men should not be having sex with prostitutes unless they are married to them._– Jerry Falwell, on CNN’s Crossfire, May 17, 1997

I do not believe the homosexual community deserves minority status. One’s misbehavior does not qualify him or her for minority status. Blacks, Hispanics, women, etc., are God-ordained minorities who do indeed deserve minority status._– Rev Jerry Falwell, USA Today Chat, quoted from The Religious Freedom Coalition, “The Two faces of Jerry Falwell”

Dan Moldea, the lead investigator for Larry Flynt’s ongoing quest to uncover sexual indiscretions of Republican congressional members, has now admitted he was hired by the law firm defending President Clinton._– Rev Jerry Falwell, from “The Bizarre Flynt-Clinton Connection,” in the January 15, 1999, “Falwell Confidential” fax report to 162,000 members, referring to the firm Williams & Connolly. Dan Moldea responded, “This entire statement is false and misleading, reckless and malicious. It is a complete fabrication.” However, the San Diego Union-Tribune picked up the fabrication and ran it as fact. Quoted from The Religious Freedom Coalition, “The Two faces of Jerry Falwell.”

We’re fighting against humanism, we’re fighting against liberalism … we are fighting against all the systems of Satan that are destroying our nation today … our battle is with Satan himself._– Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

Billy Graham is the chief servant of Satan._– Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

The ACLU is to Christians what the American Nazi party is to Jews._– Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)
AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharoah’s chariotters._– Rev Jerry Falwell (attributed: source unknown)

You’ll be riding along in an automobile. You’ll be the driver perhaps. You’re a Christian. There’ll be several people in the automobile with you, maybe someone who is not a Christian. When the trumpet sounds you and the other born-again believers in that automobile will be instantly caught away — you will disappear, leaving behind only your clothes and physical things that cannot inherit eternal life. That unsaved person or persons in the automobile will suddenly be startled to find the car suddenly somewhere crashes…. Other cars on the highway driven by believers will suddenly be out of control and stark pandemonium will occur on … every highway in the world where Christians are caught away from the drivers wheel._– Rev Jerry Falwell, in his pamphlet, “Nuclear War and the Second Coming of Christ,” quoted from Ronnie Dugger,”Does Reagan Expect a Nuclear Armageddon?” in Washington Post Outlook (April 8, 1984)

Here’s Pat Robertson

The 10 Stupidest Things Pat Robertson Ever Said

10) “Over 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that’s held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings.” –Pat Robertson, on the dangers of judicial activism

9) “Lord, give us righteous judges who will not try to legislate and dominate this society. Take control, Lord! We ask for additional vacancies on the court.” –Pat Robertson

8) “Just like what Nazi Germany did to the Jews, so liberal America is now doing to the evangelical Christians. It’s no different. It is the same thing. It is happening all over again. It is the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians.

Wholesale abuse and discrimination and the worst bigotry directed toward any group in America today. More terrible than anything suffered by any minority in history.” –Pat Robertson

7) “I would warn Orlando that you’re right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don’t think I’d be waving those flags in God’s face if I were you, This is not a message of hate — this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It’ll bring about terrorist bombs; it’ll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor.” –Pat Robertson, on “gay days” at Disneyworld

6) “(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.” –Pat Robertson

5) “I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that’s the way it is, period.” –Pat Robertson

4) “I’d like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don’t turn to God, you just rejected him from your city. And don’t wonder why he hasn’t helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I’m not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that’s the case, don’t ask for his help because he might not be there.” –Pat Robertson, after the city of Dover, Pennsylvania voted to boot the current school board, which instituted an intelligent design policy that led to a federal trial

3) “God considers this land to be his. You read the Bible and he says ‘This is my land,’ and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, ‘No, this is mine.’ … He was dividing God’s land. And I would say, ‘Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations, or the United States of America.’ God says, ‘This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.’” –Pat Robertson, on why Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke

2) “Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up” –Pat Robertson, on nuking the State Department

1) “You know, I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war … We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don’t need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.” –Pat Robertson, calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

Bonus Stupid Quote:

“Wait a minute, I didn’t say ‘assassination.’ I said our special forces should ‘take him out,’ and ‘take him out’ can be a number of things, including kidnapping.” –Pat Robertson, clarifying his call to assassinate Hugo Chavez

Extra Bonus Stupid Quote:

“Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement. I spoke in frustration that we should accommodate the man who thinks the U.S. is out to kill him.” –Pat Robertson
